Who are we and what we want?
The human development indicators in tribal and other marginalized areas are deplorably poor compared to rest of Kerala. The trust would endeavor to understand and analyze the status of marginalized communities and women through secondary analysis and baseline survey especially through focus group discussion. The work would involve strengthening institutions of women through capacity building to enhance their agency leading towards empowerment. Empowerment, social, economic and political would lead to accessing entitlements and rights. Livelihood enhancement with access to resources, assets, equipment, credit and markets would be focused upon.
Political empowerment would be focused through proactive interventions in governance. Social development would be focused through consciousness building to enhance self- esteem, access to literacy, education, health, reproductive health, etc. Campaign and interventions through institutions against gender-based violence and violation of rights would be undertaken.
Convergence with public institutions, agencies would be focused upon.
Solidarity network of women and men from all walks of life would be developed to counter gender-based violence. Effective federation of adolescents and youth would be developed in marginalized areas specially to accelerate educational and work-related requirements.
